Predio Las Piedras
Improved forest management protecting biodiversity in one of Earth's most biodiverse regions — the Peruvian Amazon.
Predio Las Piedras is located in the Madre de Dios region of the Peruvian Amazon, one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth. The project uses improved forest management to reduce logging impacts, protect old-growth areas, and generate verified carbon credits. The Madre de Dios region contains an extraordinary concentration of plant and animal species, including jaguars, giant river otters, harpy eagles, and hundreds of bird species found nowhere else. The initiative supports indigenous and local communities through conservation agreements, sustainable resource use, and training programs, demonstrating that economic development and biodiversity protection can coexist. The project area serves as a biological corridor connecting protected areas, enhancing ecosystem resilience and species movement.
