Terms of Use
Last updated: March 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using the Coffset platform (available at coffset.org), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the platform. These terms apply to all users, including visitors, registered users, and purchasers.
2. Description of Service
Coffset is a digital platform that provides AI-powered carbon footprint calculation tools and facilitates the voluntary purchase of verified carbon credits. Carbon offsets are retired on your behalf through our partner CNaught. Upon successful purchase, you receive a retirement certificate with a unique order ID traceable through public registries.
3. Important Disclaimer — Carbon Offsetting
- Carbon offsets compensate for emissions you could not avoid — they do not make you "carbon neutral" and do not replace genuine emissions reductions.
- Emissions calculations produced by our AI tool are estimates based on publicly available emission factors and methodologies. They may differ from your actual emissions.
- Coffset does not guarantee any specific environmental outcome from the purchase of offsets.
- Carbon markets involve risk. Credit values, standards, and regulatory frameworks may change over time.
- Coffset is not a financial services provider. Nothing on this platform constitutes financial, tax, or legal advice.
4. Accounts and Registration
You may use the carbon calculator without an account. To purchase offsets and track your history, you must register with a valid email address. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You must be at least 18 years old to register or make a purchase.
5. Purchases and Payments
All purchases are processed securely by Stripe. Carbon credit retirements are final and non-refundable once processed, as the underlying credits have been permanently retired on your behalf. If you believe a charge was made in error, contact us at [email protected] within 14 days.
6. Intellectual Property
All content on the Coffset platform — including text, design, code, logos, and AI-generated reports — is the property of Coffset or its licensors. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our express written permission.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the platform for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable regulation.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or exploit the platform's AI systems or APIs.
- Submit false or misleading information to manipulate calculation outputs.
- Resell certificates or retirement records obtained through the platform without our written consent.
- Impersonate another person or entity.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Coffset and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the platform. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid to Coffset in the 12 months preceding the claim.
9. Governing Law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable European Union law. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. For material changes, we will notify registered users by email.
