Accessibility Statement
Last updated: October 2026
We want everyone to be able to use coffset.org to calculate a carbon footprint, buy carbon credits and manage an account, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, magnification or other assistive technology. This statement explains what we have checked, what we know still needs work and how to tell us about a problem.
1. Our Goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. This statement covers coffset.org in all seven languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Dutch, Italian and Portuguese.
2. What We Have Checked
- In October 2026 we tested the main pages (the home page, the carbon footprint calculator, the buy page, About, the learning centre, the newsletter page, Sources, the FAQ and the impact portfolio) with Google Lighthouse, which uses the axe-core accessibility rules, on desktop and on mobile. All of them scored 100 out of 100 for accessibility.
- Earlier runs of the same tests found problems that we have fixed: text with too little contrast, buttons without a text label (such as the currency switcher) and headings out of order.
- Automated tests only find some kinds of problems, and we haven’t had an independent accessibility audit yet.
3. What Works Well
- You can use the calculator with the step-by-step form or with the chat. New chat replies are announced to screen readers.
- Each language has its own page address, and every page tells your browser and screen reader which language it is in.
- On the impact portfolio map, each project has a text label, and the same projects are listed as text below the map.
- Your certificate is a web page as well as a PDF, so you can read it with the same tools you use for the rest of the site.
4. Known Limitations
- Payment form: the card form at checkout is provided by Stripe and shown inside our page, so we can’t change how it works. If it doesn’t work for you, email us and we’ll help.
- PDF certificates may not be fully readable with every screen reader. The certificate web page shows the same information.
- Security check: some forms use Cloudflare Turnstile, which usually runs without you doing anything. If it asks you to do something you can’t, email us.
- Older articles in the learning centre may have images without a useful text description, or headings that skip a level.
- Animations: some animations don’t yet follow your device’s “reduce motion” setting.
5. Tell Us About a Problem
If something on coffset.org doesn’t work for you, or you need information in another format, email hello@coffset.org. Tell us the page address and what happened. We’ll reply as soon as we can and help you get what you came for.
6. About This Statement
We prepared this statement in October 2026, based on our own tests. We’ll update it when we make significant changes to the site.
