Ejido X-Hazil

Ejido X-Hazil is a community forest management project in the Yucatán Peninsula, Mexico. The project protects tropical dry forest from illegal logging and agricultural conversion through a community management model that generates verified carbon removal credits. Revenue from credits supports local governance, education, and environmental monitoring, creating a sustainable model for forest conservation that communities can own and operate. The Yucatán Peninsula is home to unique ecosystems including cenotes (natural sinkholes), cave systems, and tropical forests that support endemic species.
