Liling Landfill Gas

The Liling project in Hunan Province captures biogas from municipal solid waste landfill operations and converts it to electricity for local communities. The initiative addresses both the immediate challenge of methane emissions — a potent short-lived climate pollutant — and supports China's transition to cleaner, distributed energy sources through community-scale renewable generation. The project demonstrates how smaller cities can implement effective climate solutions that scale proportionally to their waste streams.
