Karnataka Regenerative Farming
Organic and natural farming groups in Karnataka, India, replace chemical fertilisers with compost, mulch, green manure and farm trees, building carbon in their soils.
This agricultural land management project works with organic and natural farming groups across the state of Karnataka in southern India. Farmers stop relying on chemical fertilisers and switch to organic soil inputs, with practices such as agroforestry, mulching, green manure and vermicomposting. These practices help the soil take up and hold more carbon and nutrients, and they cut the emissions that come with synthetic fertiliser. The project is registered with Verra as VCS 3115 under methodology VM0017, Adoption of Sustainable Agricultural Land Management, and its crediting period started in October 2017. It is developed by Vedic Green Solutions with Kanaka Management Services. Besides carbon, the project aims to improve farmers' livelihoods and the health of the wider rural landscape.
