Predio Las Piedras

Predio Las Piedras is located in Veracruz, Mexico, a region of extraordinary ecological richness where tropical montane forests shelter remarkable biodiversity. The project applies improved forest management to reduce the impact of selective logging, protect old-growth stands, and generate verified carbon credits. Veracruz forests host a high concentration of endemic plant and animal species, including migratory birds, cloud forest amphibians, and rare orchids. The initiative supports indigenous and local ejido communities through conservation agreements, sustainable resource use, and training programs, demonstrating that economic development and biodiversity protection can be mutually reinforcing. The project area acts as a biological corridor connecting highland and lowland ecosystems, enhancing species movement and long-term ecosystem resilience.
